The other day on one of the forums that I frequent someone posted a thread that alluded to the above subject. He suggested that people fail at making money online because "They don't understand what they are doing" and he emphasized it by underlining the statement.

With the rate of failure suggested to be at ninety-five to ninety-six percent you have to figure that there might be some truth in what he is saying.

The general consensus is that we fail with our Internet Marketing business because we all try to sell something, anything when we first get started.

What I have only recently learned and what I now know that all the gurus and online coaches are shouting in chorus is a resounding NO! to that idea

I know that must look and sound a bit dramatic but that is exactly what they are all saying. If you want to fail quickly or become very frustrated in Internet Marketing begin by trying to sell something.

To them this is tantamount to shooting yourself in the foot not to mention a complete waste of time, energy and in some cases money.

I know some of you are asking! What then how do I get started? Like me you would be mildly surprised even a bit irritated with the answer.

The answer is really simple and everyone who is anyone in the Internet Marketing arena agrees that you have to Build A List. Yes that's it "build your list!"

What is this "list" you may ask! Well it is a list of the names, email addresses and phone numbers of the people who are or might be interested in what you are marketing.

You could call it a list of prospects but it is commonly know to Internet Marketers as an opt-in list.

Just so we do not go overboard and get stuck in information overload let us allow this to sink in,at least for those who need it to for now.

So you want to build a successful Internet Marketing business! This is exactly why you sacrifice so much time on the internet every day trying to do just that.

Here are some of the things that those who have been there and done it advise that we should do if we are serious about succeeding in internet marketing.

1. Develop the correct mindset: Invest time researching, understanding and developing the mindset needed to become successful in this area. Begin to think of yourself as an Employer and not as an employee.

2. Educate yourself: Find a mentor especially one who is already succeeding online and learn as much as is possible from them. Learn about your niche your product and internet marketing in general.

3. Absolutely do not program hop: Find the Internet Marketing program that is right for you and focus on that. Program hopping wastes time and you can never measure your progress if you are moving from program to program. I am saying this from experience I did a lot of program hopping that got me nowhere very quickly.

4: Make a qualified decision about your investment budget: Decide how much you are willing to invest monthly for at least six to twelve month. This may be the amount of time it takes you to see some kind of returns on your investment.

5. Social Networking: Begin building relationships that are relevant to your area of interest. This could be done simply by joining online social networks like Facebook, Twitter and MySpace. There are also many business social networks on the Internet that you could join.

6. Be Consistent: Once you decide that internet marketing is what you are going to do develop an attitude of tenacious consistency. Do something every day for a few hours to promote and develop your business.

Basic Advise For Newbie Online Marketers - Start With A Step-by-Step Approach

I had to write this, really I had no plans to write a blog today but I was sitting in front of my compute thinking about what else I could do to strengthen my brand here on this infinite space called the World Wide Web (www). So I decided like I always do these days and like most of us do I'm sure, I Googled it.

Well I Googled "how do I set up a business profile webpage". Quite a mouthful but I Googled it anyway like I do most things nowadays.

What was most striking to me in the results was that most of the first few links I got all directed me to either a web template or an ezine article. Most of the web templates you were expected to buy which is fine if you knew what to do with it. The ezine articles mostly talked about how to build a website in two or three steps which was fine too if you know what a domain name is or an autoresponder or worst hosting a domain name.

All of which got me to thinking that it must be a nightmare if you are new to some facets of the internet and have a desire or dream to create a presence or worst a business online and have no idea what to do or where to turn.

I do remember being in this exact position not so long ago but I was very determined to overcome it. I was even prepared to invest in having someone build my website for me, not that I could really afford it at the time, but I was willing.

This need to have a web presence and own my own piece of the World Wide Web caused me to join many an affiliate and network marketing businesses. So I did at one time have my own "treasure trove" if you care of affiliate account.

In the end I realized that this was not getting me very far very fast but I persisted for as long as four years most of which when I look back now I find were mostly wasted. Thought not entirely since along the way I did pick up a few tricks and resources which I can now utilize along with the knowledge that I now have.

What I have discovered is if you really want to get started online you have to find the resources that are applicable to where you are in your online education. Meaning if you are a beginner a newbie you have to start with the information that will talk to you in "online baby language" so to speak.

Buying books or downloading electronic ebooks and other downloads that are talking above your head will do nothing for you except clutter your book shelf and your computer hard drive.

It is written in simple step-by-step easy to follow language that anyone who is willing and determined enough can follow and use successfully.

How I Built My Very First Website In Less Than 24 Hours

Here I go again but I simply had to write this. You know how it is with those of us who believe with an undying passion that there is a pile of money to be made online. Yes we never give up trying new things and opening up to new and different ideas.

So here I was just clicking for credits you know how that is. Me too, I hate it with a passion, but it does seem one of the sacrifices of looking to drive cheap traffic to whatever affiliate link or other you may be promoting. So like I said, here I was drearily clicking ...click ....click...click on ListJoe when I stumbled upon a site that caught my interest.

This was what, just four days ago now. So I paused and did the rear thing of listening to the entire introduction video. I have to say it was one of the more sincere and therefore refreshing ones that I have stumbled upon in a very long time.
The presenter was very pleasant and polite sounding. The presentation was great and it lacked the aggression and empty promises that many of the marketing sites online today seem to have.
You know the ones I am talking about, the ones that make you go...yada...yada...yada. At least I do, but if you are stuck with a safe list full of emails you have no other choice but to endure them.
This guy on the other hand sounded sincere and real maybe because he was telling my story or maybe most of our stories when he talked about his struggles in his early days trying to market online.
In any case I started going through the site and within five minutes I was captured by the content and I signed up as a member. I have to say even though today is only four days since I joined that membership site I think it is one of the best things I have ever done since I have been messing around with the idea of making a full time income online.
It is the first time I could say that I got what was promised me in a presentation from any affiliate membership website online, sales pitch or otherwise. I was promised that I would be able to build a website by 3:45 the afternoon and guess what. I sat down the very next day and was able to do just that. Now tell me how cool is that.
Bare in mind I have no technical skills or background all I have is a deep desire to learn how to really make an income sitting in front of my computer and working at my own pace from home.
Well all I could say is at this very moment I feel very accomplished and all the thanks and appreciation has to definitely go to Chris Farrell and his team whoever they are. We don't know each other but I feel truly indebted to them all.
My point in writing all of this is just to say that I truly believe in the power of the internet to generate substantial income for anyone who is willing to as Chris would say "learn a few new skills" or words to that effect. I believe that with these skills you could really begin to see your time being well spent as the rewards begin to manifest in the future.
I now have my very own first website (that I built myself..thank you) live on the internet and I built it in one day. By day four with every thing in place and properly set up it was ready to go live on the World Wide Web. Could you believe how great that made me feel...
I know some people would look at what I am saying and say so what is the big deal. To me it is surely a very big deal. I have learned more in three days, from one man who was willing to genuinely take the time to create the resources that would teach in a comprehensive way that anyone who is willing could follow, than I have learned in four years of stumbling around on the internet.
There is much more I need to learn I am very aware of that and I am definitely willing to learn whatever it takes. But for now I am happy to take the first steps with my new found knowledge. Thanks again to Chris and his team and I truly mean that.
What is that saying "the journey of a thousand miles begin with the first step" or "how do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time". Marketing At The Speed Of Thought

Yes! That's it exactly. I just got out of bed I was not even quite awake yet but all I could think about is what those of us who market online really want to hear about. Then it hit me so I grabbed my pen and started scribbling.

Marketing at the speed of thought! Eureka! That's it exactly the advent of the internet give us the power to get our ideas across at the speed of thought which is by the way faster than the speed of light.

Take Twitter for instance those of us who hang out there tweeting all day long as ideas come to us know exactly what I'm talking about. Some of us are updating ideas faster than they can take root in our minds. Then like magic it is being read by thousands all across the net. In that very moment we have harnessed the true viral nature of the internet.

Then there are Social Networks which allow us to share ideas with people in all corners of the globe. We can use Forums to post Ads of our choice and have access to many eager willing eyes which are ready and happy to read them.

Traffic Exchanges also allow us to share our marketing ideas and products with a multitude of viewers even as we click send to have our Ads rotating in that exchange.

Even bigger than any of these mentioned above is the power of the Search Engine. This is now a well oiled machine on the internet used by everyone who is trying to market some product or idea. We all know that Google has revolutionized the concept of Search Engines. We can use Google to search for just about anything. Our biggest challenge being to get our Ads to the top of the SE.

Added to all this are other means of advertising on the internet such as blogging, ad-copy, e-mails, ezine articles and the endless list continues.

I like the idea that we can market at the speed of thought. This thought encouraged me to write my own blog. I know I am a bit of a novice at it but with time we all can master anything we set our minds to.

Not Making Any Money Online?

I thought so and I can relate to the feeling very well. I have been in Online Network Marketing for about three (3) years now and I have not made the substantial amount of money that we would all like to be making.

Fortunately for me I have not had the misfortune of loosing any large sums of money online and so I am not by a long shot a bitter and disgruntled onliner marketer. I love online marketing and am a firm believer that this is the definite future of marketing so I am happy to plunge right in make my mistakes, lick my wounds get up and start all over again.

This I believe is the attitude that one needs to cultivate if you are to have any success in the constantly changing arena of Online Network Marketing. It is an exciting time for all of us who thrive off of the challenge that marketing online put before us.

I said all that to say that I am constantly scrutinizing and researching business opportunities on the internet. I look at the high fliers, their profiles, what they are doing and saying and I learn from them.

No I do not join every business opportunity that come before me but if something appeals to me and meet the requirements that I am looking for I dive in with a very positive enthusiasm.

If you are going to survive in online marketing you have to be discriminating and decisive in your choices as your assess and sign up to any of the many affiliate and network marketing opportunities that are readily available out there.

I have now come to believe the best approach is to become involved with something that is not costing you very much or that is free to join. Then spend some time learning as much as you can about marketing effectively online. Another good thing to do would be to align yourself with people who have been in online marketing for some time and have some knowledge of what they are doing. Find a strong team and learn from them by working closely with them.

There are many free or low cost opportunities that you can begin with and work your way up to where you would like to be in the future. Take advantage of these and learn as much as you can as you build your business.
